How to play Rumba Clave - For Beginners
This is the second video that follows tips for how to play clave sticks. Its actually the Rumba Clave. Take a look below for noted info on understanding how Rumba Clave is played. 3 side = first 8 beats 2 side = second 8 beats Count 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + | 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + (How many beats is that? 16 right) On the three side (strike the clave) on (beat 1, and of 2, and of 4 On the chart thats 1 and the plus sign of 2 + and the plus sign of 4 + On the two side (strike the clave) on (beat 2, 3) When you play that counting for a while and use a metronome with faster tempos as time picks up you can count the 4/4 time and play the notes in the full clave phrase. 1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a (how many beats is that? 16 right) Thats 4/4 with the 16th notes counted. Lets see if you can figure out where the clave notes fall in the time signature. Note: I started with the Rumba clave before Son because I like to play Rumba clave most. Then Ill show you Son Clave in my next video so start here then move on. Don't forget to rate and/or subscribe.
